Four days had passed and I began getting upset realizing the holiday was almost over. As I lay pondering over what new year's resolutions I would make and changes I'd love to effect in my life, a text message beeped on my phone. I got excited , Buchi had finally reached out , however my excitement quickly fizzled when I discovered he  had texted to inform me he was being hospitalised and was to undergo surgery. My heart skipped.

December was finally here and it was just less than a week before the office closed for the year. It felt good going home with Christmas songs buzzing on the streets and seeing decorations splattered on the roads by banks and other key organisations. I just couldn't wait.

My birthday was in two days and I was super excited. This would be the perfect opportunity for Buchi to come and see me in Lagos, since he was working in Port Harcourt and distance seemed to take its toll on our relationship.

Wednesday morning at work was fabulous. Thoughts of renewing my seriously dwindling faith later that evening during church fellowship gave me a sense of joy and hope.
Work went on as usual. I particularly complimented some fab outfits worn by some colleagues of mine. Customers made their demands, work was in full swing, files moved tables , sounds of stilettos on hard tiles slightly got me distracted as some colleagues obviously struggled to walk in their 12 inch high heels , the scent of Nescafe filled the air as everyone ensured they had a cup to get the desired kick for the morning.

Weeks had passed and things seemed same old and normal. Work was tasking and left no room for Oluchi and I to catch up with each other.
I was oblivious to the activities of the other ladies.
Buchi had finally called me and it was obvious our relationship had gone sour. The spark was drifting away day by day and it broke my heart.

Oluchi and I woke up really late. It appeared the beach party took a toll on us. I woke up feeling a bit sad and depressed. Why hadn’t Buchi bothered calling me up? I pondered with no answers. A feeling of sadness, hate, regret etc engulfed me. I was upset I put my heart out there and failed again.

The party day came and I was in mega high spirits. I sort to wear my mini shorts as stated on the IV and I looked ravishing in it.
On getting to the beach, everywhere was crowded. There was music playing at different sections which made the beach a bit chaotic.
Scantily clad ladies strutted their stuff up and down, seeking gullible preys to devour. Horny men moved around assessing every booty they could possibly and potentially hit, while the smell of grilled fish, salad, roasted meat, suya and other types of beach foods filled the atmosphere.

A year had passed after service and I was still doing not so fancy jobs to survive. I began asking myself If God  was really with me at all, because everything seemed bleak.
Oluchi had been in Lagos all these while, and we decided to catch up with each other. I was so elated to see her. She looked pretty and seemed really happy and comfortable. She was dating some comfortable guy at that time also. 
We joked , laughed, gossiped and she let me in on her latest relationship . Her new boo worked for one of the highbrow companies in Lagos and spoiled her silly with material gifts and love.

Soon, service year was almost up and i couldn't be happier. I came, I saw, I conquered.
While relaxing a certain Saturday, I received a friend request on facebook . My  goodness , I thought to myself, this guy sure looks good and has an awesome profile picture plus he was Igbo too.

The morning was super cold. The environment was so calm that I could even hear birds chirping. Looking at my wrist watch, it was 9.30 am. The absence of Ikenna’s early morning prayers and devotions made us less time conscious. We definitely missed him.

The morning was super cold having rained all night. I suffered  extreme weather temperatures  as my room had no ceiling to cushion weather effects.

Guys are largely moved by what they see and first impressions matter I reckoned.
No sooner, Cynthia drove in with her boyfriend, while Vincent followed suit behind in his car. Not long after introductions were made and pleasantries were exchanged, Jumoke and I tagged along in Vincent’s car and we all went to hang out.

Cynthia had succeeded in getting the required information about the mystery guy. I learnt his name was  Desmond. He wasn't married, wasn't Muslim but was from one of the northern states in Nigeria Kaduna to be precise.

Life went on as normal. I would shuttle between Jalingo town and the village intermittently, settle fights and quarrels between Jumoke and Efosa, fight with Jumoke , but in the end , we’ll all kiss and make up.
I chose not to let the negative situation I found myself in get to me.
