This topic has been bugging me for quite a while now . Can one really be friends with  ones ex's new girlfriend , husband, wife , boyfriend  etc?

I break up with a guy , or he breaks up with me. I have kids for him supposing we were  married, and the next thing I'm lovey dovey with his new found love.
