FORMER ASUU PRESIDENT FESTUS IYAYI DIES IN CAR CRASH



 Former ASUU president  Professor Festus Iyayi was killed when a police convoy belonging to Kogi State governor Idris Wada rammed into  the ASUU bus in which he was travelling. He was said to have died on the spot.

With the death of Iyayi, it is likely that today’s ASUU meeting in Kano over the ongoing strike will be put on hold and the strike may linger.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PLEADS WITH ASUU, OFFERS 30 BILLION NAIRA




Seems like ASUU is not ending the strike anytime soon.
The Federal Government is offering N30 billion as earned allowances to the striking university lecturers.

WE WON'T RETURN TO THE CLASSROOMS UNTIL WE ARE SETTLED- ASUU SAYS



Striking university teachers on Tuesday dismissed as a “rumour” the report that they would soon return to the classrooms.

They insisted that there was no end to the strike until the Federal Government honoured fully an agreement it signed with their umbrella body, the Academic Staff Union of Universities in 2009.

Members of ASUU in Nsukka, Calabar and Benin zones restated their resolve to continue with the industrial action at different briefings on Tuesday.

ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES ( ASUU) EMBARKS ON INDEFINITE STRIKE



 The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike as a result of the federal government‘s failure to honour the Academic Earned Allowance (AEA) which formed a component of the 2009 Agreement, government signed with the union.
