Wednesday morning at work was fabulous. Thoughts of renewing my seriously dwindling faith later that evening during church fellowship gave me a sense of joy and hope.
Work went on as usual. I particularly complimented some fab outfits worn by some colleagues of mine. Customers made their demands, work was in full swing, files moved tables , sounds of stilettos on hard tiles slightly got me distracted as some colleagues obviously struggled to walk in their 12 inch high heels , the scent of Nescafe filled the air as everyone ensured they had a cup to get the desired kick for the morning.Lo and behold at exactly 1:23 pm, a mail was sent across to all staff by management informing us that Bolanle had been placed on suspension, while Chinelo had been fired.
The entire office was in chaos with tongues wagging and gossip in every corner.
Why was Bolanle suspended and Chinelo fired over the same crime were thoughts that ran through our minds. About an hour later, we all received the shocker of our lives. Chinelo sent out a mail revealing some dirty nasty secrets. She claimed her sack was an unfair repercussion for dismissing advances by a management boss.
She gave explicit details mentioning the bosse's name, occasions where she was sexually harassed and asked us to find out more information from Bolanle. She copied Lagos, PH , Abuja and Ghana offices respectively and in about 30 minutes the entire office was in topsy turvy.
Eeeeehhh, Mr Osibanjo soliciting sex from Chinelo choi! This would be a perfect headline for a sexual harassment column on a gossip newspaper or blog, I thought.
What did she even mean by ask Bolanle for more information? Could it mean that Bola, Chinelo and Mr Osibanjo were collectively an item as partners in a threesome sexual escapade? Nasty voyeuristic images began infiltrating my head.
So all these had been happening at work and most of us were aloof?
Some came up with the assumption that Bolanle was Mr Osibanjo's main flame which led to her salary being reviewed twice in three months and Chinelo saw what benefits she stood to gain dating Osibanjo, sidelined Bola by seducing the flirty manager causing an attention shift and infuriating Bola. 'That was the major cause of the fight ' Olaedo my busty vivacious colleague affirmed.
Haba Ola, how do you know all these ? I asked wondering how Ola seemed to know many office secrets which often turned out true most times, though she exaggerated some stories.
'Well, I have my ears to the ground' Ola said proudly , beaming with smiles that she had first hand office gossip.
Asides Ola, all sorts of rumors began swirling and all seemed to make sense leaving us all perplexed over which to believe.
Our unit heads urged everyone to remain calm and observe some decorum in reacting to and handling the issue at hand.
I couldn't wait for work to be over to fill my darling busy body Oluchi and Linda in on all that had transpired at work.
