HUSBAND REPORTS WIFE FOR POURING HOT WATER ON HIM






A 29 year-old woman, Esther Adie, of Angwan Doka, New Nyanya, Nasarawa State, appeared before a Mararaba Upper Area Court and charged with causing grievous hurt on her husband.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Joseph Ahua, said Esther attacked her husband with hot water following a misunderstanding. Ahua told the court that the husband, David reported the matter at the New Nyanya Police Station on Oct.18.
 He said: “when he managed to escape, she used a glass cup to inflict grievous injuries on his head.’’ The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 95 and 97 of the Penal Code and if convicted, the accused would be liable to 12 years imprisonment or with fine or with both.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Presiding Judge, Mr Vincent Gwehemba, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum. Gwehemba ordered that the surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction and must have a reliable job. He adjourned the case to Oct. 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
