The marriage between Stella Damasus and her late husband, Jaiye Aboderin produced two children – Isabella and Angelica; age 13 and 10 respectively. “We were officially marred on the 6th of August 1999 and he passed away in 2004. We had our children in 1999 and 2002, Isabel and Angelica,” she says.

Stella confesses that it was tough right after losing her husband but was able to cross that bridge. “Prayers, family and friends who stood by me at the time when I wanted to just break down and cry helped me through. I asked God for peace, strength and wisdom and He gave me. My kids were so strong and they wanted me to be fine; they were my rock”.
Explaining how hard being a single mother is, Stella says it is the most difficult thing any woman can ever go through. “You have to be a father and a mother to the children. Everything about their health, welfare, education, spiritual life, safety, development, maturity and so many other things rest on the mother. When they fall sick, there is no one to call in the middle of the night to say, ‘Honey, she is not feeling well. Let’s take her to the hospital. Or what do we do right now, it’s very late.’ Everything you do and the decisions you make will determine the survival and development of the kids,” she adds.
Differing on what people think about actors always having one job or the other at hand, Stella reveals that there are times the jobs are not forthcoming as expected. “Sometimes when the jobs don’t come flooding in, you start to think of ways to pay school fees, food, light and water bills. As an adult, you can sort yourself out. But when you look at your children, you can’t sit down.”
Despite her challenges, the actress says she is still thankful because her family helps out with her children contrary to the rumours going round about her meeting the needs through other means. “My mum and sisters have taken turns in taking care of my kids when I have to travel and work.
They have supplied food when I needed and could not afford it, given me money to pay fees when the world was busy saying all sorts about me, not knowing the sacrifices my family made to make sure I was taken care of,” she explains.
The beautiful actress says she loves her children and defines a mother’s love as “unconditional, pure, refreshing, undying, and most times indescribable.”
She has no regrets being a mother, as a matter of fact, that is her greatest joy. “The fact that there are wonderful angels who love me regardless of what the world think, beautiful people to go home to after a hectic day, people who will never betray me, who I can talk to, who give me a chance to take care of them because they trust me, the face that they are a reflectionof me; gives me great joy. When the world finally meets them, they will truly know who I am,” she eulogizes.
This mother of two says she loves spending time with her kids and when she is not working, they have fun playing dress up and having slumber parties in her bedroom.
