Former president George H.W. Bush remains in intensive care at a Houston hospital on Friday, where he has been since developing a fever since Sunday.

A spokesman for the family says that Bush’s condition is improving and that he is alert and in good spirits — even singing. Doctors continue to be cautiously optimistic. The 88-year-old has been in and out of Methodist Hospital since early November, battling a severe cough

MARGRET THATCHER UNDERGOES SURGERY TO REMOVE GROWTH

Former Prime Minister  Margret Thatcher is recovering from a surgery to remove a growth in her bladder.

Her friend  her friend Lord Tim Bell revealed.

He said: "Following an examination in hospital on Wednesday Mrs Thatcher had a minimal invasive operation to remove a growth in her bladder.

"The operation was completely satisfactory.

"She will stay in hospital to recuperate for a few days and then she will return home. Her daughter Carol was with her in hospital.

"We will make no further comment."

Lady Thatcher retired from public speaking in 2002 after suffering a series of minor strokes.

She was later revealed to be suffering from Alzheimer’s.

I wish her a quick recovery.

IRAQI PRESIDENT JALAL TALABANI SUFFERS STROKE

Jalal Talabani the President of Iraq  was admitted in a  hospital on Monday night suffering from "fatigue and tiredness". TV reports said he suffered a stroke.

Mr Talabani struggled with his health in recent years and has often been treated abroad, correspondents say.

A veteran of the Kurdish guerrilla movement, Mr Talabani, 79, is Iraq's first president from the ethnic group.

"A specialised medical team is taking care of him and a report will be issued later," his office said.

The president underwent heart surgery in the US in 2008, and was treated for dehydration and exhaustion in Jordan in 2007.

GLOBAL FUND GIVES NIGERIA $335M TO FIGHT HIV AND TUBERCULOSIS

Global Fund, a United Nations agency has given Nigeria a grant of $335M  to fight HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis in the country for the next three years.Dr. Fatai Bello Executive Secretary of Country Coordinating Mechanism in Nigeria, said this in Calabar during the commencement of five-day retreat organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS for principal recipients and sub-recipients, said the fund would cater for the second phase of the programme.

According to him, the funds will be managed by the NACA, Society for Family Health, Association for Reproductive and Family Health and Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria.

He said $266m would be used to manage cases of HIV while tuberculosis treatment would gulp $69m.

Bello said $200m was released in the first phase of the programme, which lasted for two years.

THEN COMES MY BIG QUESTION, With all the grants and aids , how come the Incidence of HIV is continually on the rise? Is it that the programmes and funds given  for the HIV  and TB fight causes are not properly  implemented and utilized by executors , or is it that despite the HIV awareness, individuals have refused to take precautionary measures to avoid contracting the disease?

HILARY CLINTON RECOVERS FROM LIFE THREATENING ILLNESS

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to recover from a concussion she sufferedafter falling early last week in her Washington, D.C., home.

She was alone at the time she passed out and her concussion was not diagnosed until days later.

The concussion was not severe, her doctors said, reports and was due to dehydration suffered after a trip the former first lady took to Europe, NBC News.

Her fall will keep Clinton, who continues to be discussed as a possible presidential contender for 2016, from testifying before Congress on the attack in September in Benghazi, Libya, that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and two Navy Seals.

"She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors," the State Department said in a statement this weekend. "At their recommendation, she will continue to work from home next week, staying in regular contact with Department and other officials."
