MARIO BALOTELLI'S BROTHER ENOCH ARRESTED

Manchester City star Mario Balotelli’s brother appeared in an Italian court on Christmas Eve accused of assaulting two policemen.

Barwuah is Balotelli’s younger brother and apart from Abigail he also has a sister Angel – they remained with his( Mario Balloteli) natural parents while he was adopted as a baby by a wealthy Italian couple.

The court heard how he had been attacked as he drank in a bar in Brescia with his sister Abigail.

A man allegedly ripped the striker’s shirt but Barwuah then turned on police who had been called by the owner.

Officers said they found him in the street shirtless and barefooted and when they approached they were kicked and punched, while their squad car was also damaged in the incident.

The court bailed Barwuah to his home address in Brescia until January 3, when he will have a fast track trial accused of assault and resisting arrest.

At his hearing he apologised and said his reactions had been ‘unjustified’ but he had become concerned after his sister ‘felt ill’ during the attack.

Enoch  Barwuah , 20, was held after an alleged brawl at a bar and kept in custody until his appearance before a judge.

WOMAN TEARS MAIDS VAGINA WITH RAZOR AND POURS PEPPER

 

A middle aged woman, simply identified as Uchenna  is currently remanded in Onitsha Police Area Command for breaking her maid’s hand and tearing her private part with razor blade.  The woman allegedlly used a pestle to break her maid’ left hand and inflicted very deep cuts in her private part with a razor blade in the commercial city of Onitsha.

The incident took place at Osuma Street where the victim,  Chisom Nwafor  was  living with her mistress before she was attacked by the suspect. Narrating her ordeal, Chisom, a 10 year old girl from Enugu-Abo in Enugu State said her mistress returned to the house last Sunday morning and started beating her and used razor blade on her private parts. “I was changing her daughter’s dress because she urinated on it.

My madam entered and started shouting on top of her voice and she immediately rushed into the kitchen and collected pestle and hit me severally on my back and she hit me again and broke my left hand, I fell and she entered her room and took a razor blade, tore my pant and started tearing my private part after which she poured pepper inside my private part which was bleeding” she said.

Speaking on the incident, the Onitsha Area Commander, Benjamin Wordu described the incident as highest level of inhumanity and said the suspect would pay for her actions.

INDIAN GANG RAPE VICTIM DIES FROM ORGAN FAILURE

Reports have it that the Indian medical student whose gang rape triggered mass protests calling for better protection for women against sexual violence has died.

The 23-year-old – who was severely beaten, raped and thrown out of a moving bus in Delhi – died on Friday in the Singapore hospital where she was being treated.

Her family had been keeping a bedside vigil after she suffered severe organ failure following the attack on 16 December. She was flown to Singapore from India two days ago as her condition worsened.

"We are very sad to report that the patient passed away peacefully at 4.45am on 29 December, 2012 [4.45pm GMT Friday]. Her family and officials from the High Commission of India were by her side," Kelvin Loh, chief executive of the Mount Elizabeth hospital, said in a statement.

My heart goes to her family.May her soul rest in perfect peace amen.

YOUTUBE CANCELS BILLIONS OF VIDEO VIEWS

The world's biggest recording companies have been stripped of two billion YouTube hits after the website cracked down on alleged 'fake viewers'.

Universal, home of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, lost a total of one billion views in the video site’s biggest ever crackdown on artificially inflated figures.

Sony was second hardest hit, with the label behind such stars as Alicia Keys, Rita Ora and Labrinth losing more than 850million views in a single day.

The dramatic cuts came as YouTube conducted a crackdown on fake views, but music industry sources have blamed it on housekeeping related to the migration of their videos across different channels.

The unprecedented move left Universal with just five videos on the site - none of which were music - and Sony with just three.

'This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy,' YouTube announced.

It marks a huge commercial blow to all the artists involved as YouTube is now the web's most important outlet for music videos

Over four billion hours of video are watched by over 800million unique visitors to the site each month.

The dramatic falls, highlighted by figures compiled by YouTube statistics analysts at SocialBlade, came after YouTube conducted an audit of its viewing figures aimed at combating 'black hat' view count-building techniques.

That is the term used when hackers artificially build up the numbers of views or likes on a YouTube video - enabling them to make clips appear far more popular than they really are and increase their exposure on the site.

The number of views attracted on YouTube are these days regarded as an unofficial worldwide popular music chart, so once it became clear that hits had been inflated, fingers immediately pointed at the record industry.

A WOMAN whose face was melted in an acid attack by a jilted admirer has won India’s version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.

Nine years after an acid attack left Sonali Mukherjee blind in both eyes, partially deaf and melted away the skin on her skull, neck, chest and back, the 27-year-old is running penniless from pillar to post in Delhi seeking help from the government or permission for euthanasia.

Sonali Mukherjee, 27, will spend the show’s £30,000 prize — made famous in movie Slumdog Millionaire — on surgery.

She has already had 22 ops, with her family selling land to fund them.

Her attacker, plus two friends, broke into her home in Dhanbad in 2003.

They were sentenced to nine years but granted bail on appeal.

WOMAN BEATS UP HUSBAND AND ALMOST KILLS HIM

Nyasha Zvoushe a man from Harare  had made a protection order application at the Harare Civil Court against his estranged wife Diana ManjeyeZvoushe.

He told resident magistrate Mr Brighton Pabwe that he sought protection from the law against his wife who abuses him.

"This woman beats me up and shouts at me, telling me that I am not a real man who can make her pregnant," he said.

"I almost lost my life when she pulled my genitals, only to wake up at Harare Hospital.

"She sold all my clothes and is barring me from my house where she is now cohabiting with her boyfriend.

"She told me that the child we have is not mine and she has had other men who satisfy her in bed."

In her response, Manjeyese told the court that her husband was a liar.

"We started having problems when he wanted to take another wife," she said.

"I denied that he marries another wife, prompting him to leave our matrimonial home.

"He returned and found me in the company of my sister and brother.

"He insisted that the man is my boyfriend."

Mr Pabwe dismissed Zvoushe’s application for lack of merit and advised him to seek advice from his in-laws and aunties.

Zvoushe, who could not stomach the judgment, became hysterical and started shouting.

"I am scared of her, I am scared of her.

"Where will I stay?" he said.

"From here, I am going home.

"I will deal with whatever happens when I am there."

PASTOR KILLED OVER A LAND DISPUTE

 

Members of Faith Builders Ministry, a Pentecostal church located in Calabar Municipal Council of Cross River State, have been thrown into mourning following the death of their pastor and founder, Rev. John Ene-Obong, who was killed last Monday by irate youths over a land dispute in Ikot Ene-Obong community.

Ene-Obong, who reportedly returned to Nigeria from Canada barely a week before his death, was killed alongside two others whose names were given as Effiong Koko-Ette and Victor Ene-Boco.

On the latest killings, a source said  that the pastor went to inspect the land in company with the two other victims when they were ambushed and killed.

Residents of Ikot Ene-Obong community and its environs are now living in fear following the war of attrition the land dispute had caused among members of late Chief Ene-Obong’s family.

It was learnt that the land dispute had polarised the family and factions within Ene-Obong’s family now resorted to use of thugs to intimidate one another.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Umoh, said six persons had been arrested in connection with the killings.

NAS SUED FOR 10 MILLION DOLLARS

Nas is being sued for a hefty $10 million by concert promoter Patrick Allocco, who says he was kidnapped when the "One Mic" rapper didn't show up for a scheduled New Year's Eve concert Allocco organized in Angola.

Allocco, a native of New Jersey, says he was kidnapped at gunpoint and held captive for two months after Nas pocketed around $300,000 for a performance in the African country, but then never showed. Allocco and his son were held captive in a $500-a-night hotel by Angolan music promoter Henrique Miguel. However, the Allocco's were denied refuge by the American Embassy because the Embassy believed that the pair was not at risk for serious harm.

Allocco paints a different story, where he suffered both financially and physically. In his lawsuit he claims he was beaten and threatened regularly. His absence lead to the foreclosure of his home and also the loss of his company.

Nas has neither commented nor released an official statement concerning this subject.

SUICIDE BOMBERS ATTACK AIRTEL AND MTN OFFICES IN KANO

Two suicide bombers yesterday in Kano, rammed their vehicles into the structures of two mobile communication giants in the state capital, signaling the prospect of a gloomy yuletide in the state. The two bombers died instantly. The affected structures were the headquarters of Airtel Nigeria, located off Niger Street, opposite the famous Mallam Kato Square and an inter -switch outlet belonging to MTN Nigeria, on Maimalari Street in the Bompai Industrial Area of the state capital.

It was gathered that the security operatives deployed to the headquarters of Airtel Nigeria responded promptly, targeting the suicide bomber just before the final explosion of his vehicle, a situation that mitigated the impact of the blast.

A Mochudi man is fighting for his life at Deborah Retief Memorial hospital after his abusive wife set the house they were sleeping in ablaze last weekend.

As the international community observed the ‘16 Days of Activism on violence against women and children’, Shianyana Modise’s estranged wife went on rampage and attempted to burn her husband and three children including a two-month old baby, inside the house.

When describing details of the horrific incident, 39-year old Shianyana Modise told of how his habitually abusive wife, Violet, had phoned informing him that she suspected that the food in the house had been poisoned.

“I had gone to the cattle post on Friday when I received the call.

She told me that she had not cooked any food as she suspected that the food had been poisoned.

When I got back home she had put all food-stuffs into a large bowl and mixed with water.

When I asked why she did that she started throwing her usual tantrums, insulting me and throwing stuff all over the place.

She broke the furniture and other household property and I went to the police station and reported the incident.

Modise said he was awoken by a cloud of smoke engulfing his bedroom at 3am on Saturday and that when he opened the bedroom door the living room was on fire and he suffered burns as he tried to escape.

“When I tried to open the door to get out of the house I found that it had been locked.

I then went through the inferno and tried to rescue Violet and the kids but their room was also locked.

I managed to break the burglar bars to my room and escaped through the window.

It was only then that I managed to break the other window and rescue the kids. I was screaming for help at the same time and my brother and other neighbours came and doused the flames and we managed to get Violet out of the house.”

“After the incident the affected family members who included children aged 11 years, 8 years and two months were taken to the hospital.

The woman has been admitted at Sbrana Psychiatric hospital in Lobatse for mental examination.

23 YEAR OLD LADY UNDERGOES 5 SURGERIES AND LOOSES INTESTINES TO RAPE

One of the six men accused of brutally gang-raping a young woman and assaulting her male friend in New Delhi stunned the court on Wednesday with a startling confession.

"I admit to my crime. Hang me," said Vijay Sharma, a 20-year-old gym instructor, according to NDTV.

Another of the accused, a 19-year-old fruit seller, also admitted that he was guilty.

"I am ashamed. I have committed…a big crime," said Pawan Gupta.

Sharma and Gupta, along with four other men, stand accused of gang-raping a 23-year-old student on a bus before "savagely" beating her and a male companion. The merciless rape reportedly lasted for many hours. The AP writes:

Police said six men raped the woman and savagely beat her and her companion with iron rods on a bus driving around the city -- passing through several police checkpoints -- before stripping them and dumping them on the side of the road Sunday night.
Delhi police chief Neeraj Kumar said four men have been arrested and a search was underway for the other two.

The young woman, reportedly a paramedical student, is said to be in a hospital in critical condition. According to the Hindustan Times, she underwent a fifth surgery on Wednesday, during which portions of her intestine were removed. Doctors say the woman "has lost most of her intestine."

NIGERIAN TEENAGERS CONVICTED OF MURDER IN THE UK

Two Nigerians, Nelson Idiabeta and Nathaniel Okusanya have been sentenced to prison by a UK court for the murder of Kwame Ofosu-Asare.

The two young men were said to be members of a gang known as the TN1 (Trust No One) who were out to avenge the stabbing of one of their gang member.

Kwame was, however, mistaken as a member of a rival gang known as the GAS gang – Guns and Shanks. The 17-year-old boy was chased, caught and stabbed 14 times in the back in what has been described as a “cowardly and merciless murder”.

His killers had toured housing estates in Brixton to find rival gang members and came upon the 17-year-old son of a sports broadcast journalist and his friend, who had nothing to do with any gangs.

The victim and a friend were returning from a session at a recording studio when they were confronted by Okusanya and Idiabeta in the Moorlands Estate in Brixton.

His friend managed to jump over a fence but Kwame was trapped and brutally murdered.

KIDNAPPERS DEMAND NGOZI OKONJO IWEALA'S RESIGNATION AS PART OF RANSOM

Nigeria's Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala says her mother's kidnappers demanded her resignation.

In her first public comments since her 82-year-old mother's release, Mrs Okonjo-Iweala said the kidnappers mentioned her battle against a multi-billion dollar fuel scam.

Kamene Okonjo was freed on Friday after gunmen held her for five days.

Mrs Okonjo-Iweala pushed a government policy to end fuel subsidies in January, sparking a nationwide strike.

The government then agreed to partially restore the subsidy.

Kidnapping is common in southern Nigeria, where it is a lucrative criminal enterprise.

'No backing down'

She said her mother, a retired professor, was held without food or water.

"The kidnappers spent much of the time harassing her. They told her that I must get on the radio and television and announce my resignation," Mrs Okonjo-Iweala said in a statement.

"When she asked why, they told her it was because I did not pay oil subsidy money."

Earlier this year, a parliamentary investigation found that a scam linked to the subsidy cost the country $6.8bn (£4bn).

Kamene Okonjo was kidnapped from her home in southern Nigeria's Delta state on 9 December.

On Friday, officials said she had been released and that her abductors had dropped her off near her home.

It is not clear whether a ransom was paid to secure her release.

Mrs Okonjo-Iweala, 58, did not answer any questions after making her statement.

She is an internationally respected economist who has led a high-profile campaign to clean up corruption in Nigeria.

The finance minister said the kidnapping would not change the policy of President Goodluck Jonathan's government.

"For marketers whose transactions are proven to be fraudulent, the position of the Jonathan government is also clear: We cannot and we will not pay," she said.

"We will not back down on this. We will continue to stand firm."

Last week, finance ministry spokesman Paul Nwabuikwu said that Mrs Okonjo-Iweala had been threatened recently.

Officials said Kamene Okonjo had probably been released because her abductors were under pressure, following a series of raids by Nigeria's security forces to hunt them down.

MURDERED CONDUCTORS WIFE LAMENTS AND SEEKS JUSTICE

Kazeem  a bus conductor was shot dead by a policeman attached to the Mopol 50, Abuja, Corporal Oluwakiyesi Adegboyega,over N50 change.

Kazeem was shot in the head at close range. Eyewitnesses had said there was an altercation between Kazeem and Adegboyega(policeman), who brought out his service pistol and shot the conductor dead.

Kafayat and her husband had a seven-year-old son.

Kafayat stated that she was more devastated because her husband was killed by a policeman who is paid to protect members of the public.

While Kazeem was struggling to make end meets in Lagos, his wife and son live in Osogbo, Osun State.

The incident led to a riot that was later quelled by policemen.

Kafayat said, “My husband has not seen his son in the last three years, not because he did not want to, but because it has been hard for me to bring him to Lagos.

“I was planning to bring my son to see his father soon. Kazeem sent money for his upkeep, asking each time when he would be able to see his son.” The son would only have an opportunity to see his father’s corpse on Friday, when his remains will be buried at his hometown in Iragbiji, Osun State.

She had said after the incident in November that Adegboyega was in custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department. But since then, nothing has been heard.
