GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE ABIOLA AJIMOBI SERVED WITH AN IMPEACHEMENT NOTICE

There was confusion in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital yesterday when news spread that Governor Abiola Ajimobi has been served an impeachment notice by members of the state House of Assembly.

Many residents went frantic trying to confirm the news, which was already on social media sites and reportedly aired on a private television station in Lagos.

Worries heightened in view of the fact that Governor Ajimobi and the Speaker of the House, Monsurat Sunmonu, believed to be very loyal to the governor, were out of the state, with many saying the move was an orchestrated ‘coup’ to be carried out while they were away.

Reports alleged that 24 lawmakers had signed the impeachment notice to be served on the governor and that they had also taken the parliament’s mace into custody.
