No doubt, the movie 12 Years A Slave storyline is indeed touching and sad .
Due to the buzz and hype, I was really eager to watch it, then an oppourtunity came for me to do so in a friends house when I visted.
I kept wondering after I watched the movie, what all the buzz was about and thanked my stars I didn't spend my N1500 to watch the movie in a cinema ( my thoughts and opinion).
Of course with the popular saying ''One man's meat is another man's poison'', it didn't come as a shock and surprise when a couple of friends and acquaintances thought the movie was dope and outstanding while a whole lot had equal views about the movie like I did.
I will not fail to state that I took note of Lupita who played the role of Patsey in the movie, as a supporting actress to Chiwetel Ejiofor.
I am happy she won an Oscar for her first attempt in a Hollywood movie being that she is black and young (no beef), and for putting her all into her character.
Ever since she won the Oscars though, I kept asking myself and wondering if she played an extraordinary role in the movie.
Asides the part where she was flogged and punished mercilessly by her master in the movie, I really can't place my fingers on another exceptional role in any of the other scenes.
Did she deserve to win? This has sparked alot of arguments amongst my friends and colleagues who have seen the movie.
Asides the fact she'z black, and we must support our own, did she really deserve that Oscar?
Congrats to her though!!!
