Kate Middleton and Prince William released a statement this afternoon after they welcomed their first son.
They said: "We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received."
The couple, whose baby boy weighed 8lbs 6oz, continued: "We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone - staff, patients and visitors - for their understanding during this time.”
Kate was in labour for eight hours yesterday, drawing huge crowds to stand outside Buckingham Palace and wait for the official announcement.
This morning, a spokesman for Kensington Palace said: "Mother, son and father are all doing well."
