Its Christmas, a period of festivities and fun-fare . Some see it as a period of relaxation after a stressful year, some see it as a period of reuniting with loved ones, they haven't seen in ages, some see it as a period to show off wealth and accomplishments , but Jesus is truly the reason for the season.
Ok long story. In Africa Nigeria to be precise , the period of festivity i.e Christmas is characterized with alot of eating and drinking , and the staple dish often served is RICE whew! White rice, Jollof rice, Fried rice , rice , rice and more rice.
Don't get me wrong , I love rice , but after eating it repeatedly i'm scared I will suffer from Ricemaisis (my special name for eating too much rice lol). And I begin to wonder why our traditional dishes like Garri, Fufu(I so love swallow) and soups are not often served during festivities.
I got tired of rice eating today and had to sneak out to a place to get well prepared Garri(eba) and Edikaikong soup, and you cannot imagine my excitement as I swallowed ball after ball(hungry girl like me).
African dishes are truly the best!!!
